Jumbo Rewards Movie Night
One of the unique selling points of JUMBO Rewards membership programme is the effort we put into organising a variety of signature events, specially designed to bring our members together to bond and network. From recreational sporting activities such as our annual JUMBO Golf Challenge, to more glamorous, themed events such as our Members’ Appreciation Night, JUMBO is constantly innovating and coming up with new and interesting signature events to keep our Rewards members excited and engaged.
On 22 July 2016, we initiated a new event – JUMBO Rewards Movie Night – which attracted a crowd of attendees amounting to more than one hundred and sixty people including JUMBO Rewards members, their families and friends. Response was so overwhelming that tickets sold out overnight! Held at Golden Village Grand (Great World City), our members and guests were all hyped up for a night of light-hearted humour with an exclusive screening of the new and improved “Ghostbusters”, a whimsical and comedic movie which people of all ages were sure to enjoy. The event began at 5pm with a sumptuous buffet dinner held at the garden terrace outside the theatre.
For just $12.50 or redeemable at 38 JUMBO Dollars (J$) per pax, our members and guests found themselves treated to a spread of delicacies before the actual movie screening. A luxurious menu of items awaited, showcasing signature dishes such as our JUMBO Fried Deshelled Prawns with Cereal, Scallop Wrapped in Yam Ring, Mocha Pork Ribs, Chilled Fresh Durian Mochi for dessert and many more.
“We like it. We pay a small fee for such good quality food!” said Mr Clement Yong, who brought his partner along with him to enjoy the night. Despite being a member for the past four years, this was Clement’s first JUMBO Rewards event: “When I tried to sign up previously, it (Members’ Appreciation Night 2016) was already full!”
There was also a huge photo wall on site, where many members and guests were seen letting their hair down to pose for pictures with props such as toy guns – everyone wanted to be a Ghostbuster for a day!
JUMBO Rewards member Ms Lynette Tay only signed up early this year on her birthday, and this event was also her first members’ event. “This event is good. It’s very attractive and you should definitely have more in the future!” said Lynette, who came with her husband and child.
The resounding interest and attendance for our first-ever movie night brought great encouragement to the organising team at JUMBO, and this certainly spurs us to introduce new and more interesting events in the future. A big “thank you” to all our members for your continuous support!

As the sun took its first peep over the horizon with many still sound asleep at home, our JUMBO Rewards members were already gearing up and ready for a day of action – that’s right, the time had come for another annual JUMBO Golf Challenge!
Held on 13 September 2016, this year’s Golf Challenge was met with a response no less overwhelming than its past iterations, with registration closing in less than eight minutes after signups went live. As always, with spirits high and clubs primed and ready to go, our first batch of golfers arrived at the National Service Resort & Country Club (NSRCC) bright and early for registration and breakfast before tee-off at 7:15am. While an intense, healthy competition between our JUMBO golfers ensued, lunch was being prepared to ensure that our first group of champs would be rewarded with a satisfying lunch after a morning of fun, and that our second session of golfers would be well-fed before heading out to the greens.
At noon, we welcomed our golfers from the first session back and the second session began promptly at 1pm, with our members fired up and determined to perform their best on the greens in spite of the scorching afternoon heat. Meanwhile, our morning session golfers were treated to an entertaining movie marathon session featuring the film “Long Long Time Ago”, part one and two, to unwind after a delicious lunch. A visually handicapped mobile massage team was also ready to provide relief for any aching limbs and tired bodies – a meaningful and heart-warming addition to the line-up of activities. “This massage and movie idea is great – it is so nice to relax after a game of golf!” said Mr Jemme Ong, a firsttime attendee of our JUMBO Golf Challenge who enjoyed a neck and shoulders massage after what was described as “a hard fought battle” during the morning session.
Dusk soon approached and as we wound down a day of fun, a tantalising dinner spread was all ready for our golfers to partake in, and celebrate the bonds of camaraderie forged after rounds of friendly competition.
Served on the dining table were Deep Fried Deshelled Prawns with Salted Egg, JUMBO Combination Platters featuring Marinated Jellyfish and Shredded Roast Duck Salad, to name a few – and of course, our JUMBO Award-winning Chilli Crab with mantou; all of which filled our members’ stomachs with much satisfaction after a day of grueling sportsmanship. It was a time of hearty fun and laughter as our members revealed their sporting sides, going all-in to participate in the games enthusiastically. Rounding up the event was the hot-favourite segment of the night – the Grand Lucky Draw! With attractive prizes such a a 64GB iPad Mini Retina Wi-Fi, a 14.1 Lenovo Notebook and an OSIM uHip device, it was no wonder that everyone was on the edge of their seats with their heads propped up in eagerness, roaring and cheering for all the lucky numbers called.

The JUMBO Golf Challenge is a keynote annual event for our Rewards members and this year’s was no different from the rest, ending with much joy and merriment. We would like to thank all our members for your continuous support and we certainly look forward to witness more golfing action next year!
