Ever since JUMBO’s retail packs were launched, many of our customers have not only recreated our signature JUMBO dishes; they’ve gone the extra step to invent original recipes at home. In this issue, we are excited to have Ms Lily Zhang, customer of JUMBO Seafood to share how she creatively fused JUMBO’s flavoursome Chilli Crab Paste and Black Pepper Spice with other ingredients to conjure a couple of delectable fusion dishes. Learn how you can whip up these easy, yet scrumptious dishes in your own kitchen too!

The retail packs make cooking so convenient! Everything is pre-packed but the taste and flavour is already there, without having to refine further by adding more ingredients. It’s so user-friendly and not difficult to cook at all.

What was the inspiration behind these dishes?

Instagram! Instagram is a great place to get recipe ideas on using ingredients in different ways. I wanted to create recipes that are so easy, anyone can replicate them in 20 minutes or less, and impress their family and friends.

Do you think the retail packs are true to the flavours offered in our restaurants?

The Black Pepper Crab Spice is EXACTLY the same as what you get at JUMBO Seafood! The first time I made it, I was amazed – the quality and taste are parallel to what I have experienced in the restaurants.

Do these retail packs make cooking at home easier and more exciting?

The retail packs definitely make cooking at home so much easier, and it’s fun to experiment and explore new ideas with different flavours and sauces.

Any tips for other home cooks who are using the JUMBO retail packs?

The good thing about the retail packs is that you can control the level of spiciness to suit your own liking. Don’t put too much of the sauces right away, or it might get too spicy!

BLACK PEPPER SEAFOOD PASTA

Serves 2-3
Ingredients
125g Angel Hair Pasta
4pcs Shrimp
40g Scallop
40g Clams & Mussels
20g Squid (chopped)
20g Mushrooms (chopped)
20g Green Pepper
30g Butter
2pcs Garlic Cloves (minced)
40g Cherry Tomato
1tsp Sugar
1/2tsp Salt
10g JUMBO Singapore Black Pepper Crab Spice
30ml Water

Directions

Boil water in a pot

Put pasta into the pot and cook for 2 minutes

In a frying pan, melt butter, add in garlic and green peppers

Stir fry shrimp, scallops, squid, clams, mussels and mushrooms for 5 minutes until the seafood is cooked

Mix JUMBO Black Pepper Crab Spice, butter, light soy sauce and 30ml of water in a bowl

Add in pasta from step 2 into the frying pan

Pour the bowl of mixture from step 5 into the frying pan and stir till the pasta is well coated with the sauce

Dish onto a plate and serve hot

Deviled eggs with chilli crab paste

Serves 2
Ingredients
3pcs Eggs
40g Minced Pork
30g JUMBO Singapore Chilli Crab Paste
1tsp Light Soy Sauce
1tsp Sugar
1tsp Corn flour
30ml Water

Directions

In a small bowl, evenly mix minced pork with light soy sauce, sugar and corn flour. Set aside for at least 15 minutes

Place the eggs into a pot. Fill the pot with enough water to cover the eggs by 1 – 2 inches. Turn to high heat. Once the water boils, remove the pot from heat, cover and set aside for 10 minutes

Peel the eggs, slice the eggs in halves

Remove the egg yolks and mash the egg yolks with a fork or spoon. Set aside in a bowl

Create a mixture of JUMBO Chilli Crab Paste, tomato sauce, light soy sauce and 30ml of water

Heat up a pan, add cooking oil. After the oil is heated up, add in minced pork and spread it out in the pan. Do not stir fry immediately. Let it cook till slightly caramelized. Flip it over and let the other side cook for a while. Reduce the heat and break up the pork into tiny bits

Stir fry the cooked egg yolks (from Step 4) together with the minced pork and JUMBO Chilli Crab Paste mixture prepared in Step 5

Fill the hard-boiled eggs with contents from Step 7 using a spoon

Dish onto a plate and it’s ready to serve
