Editor’s Note

It wasn’t too long ago when everyone at JUMBO was excited and raring to kick-start the 2017 celebrations and fanfare planned for the Group’s 30th anniversary. In a blink of an eye, we have entered the last quarter of the year! While many may sigh and wonder where the time has gone, for us at JUMBO, we look back fondly on what has been an amazing year with many proud moments and significant milestones to take pride in.

One poignant event to remember was the launch of our brand new Chilli Crab Soup Base at JPOT in August, just in time for Singapore’s 52nd National Day celebrations. A tribute to our country’s iconic national dish, the new soup base offers diners the best of both worlds – a hotpot meal that also ends off with a tantalising, authentic Chilli Crab Dish. In this issue, we introduce you to one of our longest-serving staff, Mdm Tan Gek Siam, who has dedicated a whopping 40 years of service (more than half of her life!) to JUMBO’s heritage brand, NG AH SIO Bak Kut Teh. So what has kept this incredible woman’s passion ignited for all these years? Her story on our people reveals it all.

On the external front, JUMBO continues to expand its presence around the world. Our latest overseas JUMBO Seafood outlet was launched in the vibrant capital of China, Beijing, and has garnered resounding praise from the local foodies who have fallen head over heels for the very best of Singapore seafood cuisine! There will certainly be many new outlets to come, but we will unveil more as we ring in the new year!
